Treasure Hunt!

Here is a short video of the treasure hunt ending with singing Happy Birthday. After the video are the clues that I wrote out. We had a chest that had a lock on it so before the treasure hunt I put the key on a string and tied it around the birthday boy's neck to hold for safe keeping. I think that added a nice touch to it.

Here are the clues I used for the treasure hunt, these were for 3 and 4 year olds (and one 6 year old) if the kids are older at your party you may want to make them a little more challenging.

The front door is where ye greet yer hearties
Sometimes we call 'em friends
Welcome to the pirate party
This is where the hunt begins!


This is where you get your mail, packages and bills
Go there fast and get your clue or else the scallywags will



Go to the place that ye watch tv, movies and other shows
This is where ye find yer next clue that is where ye should go.


This is where you find your snacks salty, sweet or fuity
You’ll also find your next clue to lead you to the booty



Avast me hardies listen up! you’re almost there you see.
Go to where you swing up high underneath a tree.


This is where you walk the plank and take a swim for pleasure

It’s also where you should look if you want to find your treasure!

I got lazy with the you / ye's toward the end but you get the picture!

I found this website that had a lot of pirate verbiage that can help you with your clues.

Henry is Three! Happy Birthday Henry

Henry Patrick Hawkins was born 3 years ago today. I love him more than I ever knew I could love something or someone. I thank God for him every day. Here is a video montage I made for him. He loves watching it over and over again. I hope you will enjoy it too!

Henry's spelling game

Henry has been practicing spelling. This is a new game that he loves. I help him sound out the words and he types them in the word processor on the computer. This video was taken on Saturday. Yesterday when I got home from work he was spelling words in his head! Maybe this little game is actually helping him learn how to spell. Sorry the video is hard to see. It's hard to video tape a computer screen.

There's a Pig Outside

OK, so a little background info on this video. Henry told me one day that there was a pig outside his window that told him not to get out of bed because it was dark outside, (yes, I realize that sounds a little crazy!) also on this video he is doing his impression of Matt and me telling him to get back in bed. Every night after we put him to bed he gets out of bed, (I think it is part of his bedtime routine,) and we go in his room and tell him to get back in bed. So I give you; Henry the impressionist who sees imaginary pigs. LOL

Henry Singing the Wiggles

Henry loves The Wiggles, here is a video of him singing "Here Comes a Bear" along with his video that I got at Goodwill for $1 (best dollar ever spent by the way). Please excuse the mess, I was in the middle of cleaning and you know how sometimes when you clean you make more of a mess than it was to begin with? Well, it was one of those times.

Henry is learning to use the mouse

Henry is learning how to use the mouse and he is doing a pretty good job at it. This video is of him "coloring" on the computer. The Fisher Price website has coloring pages for kids. He did this for a long time just clicking on the paint colors and filling in the spaces. He loved it! I took another video of him and I tried to get him to look at the camera and he replied "mommy, I'm painting right now" He's a troubled artist.

2008 a Good Year.

Well, It's just about time to say goodbye to 2008 and hello to 2009. I thought that all in all 2008 was a good year for me and my family. In March we moved into a new bigger house that's practically across the street from where I work. I had a beautiful baby girl in May whom I can't imagine my life without. Henry made it to 2 without me strangling him (let's see if he makes it to 3! LOL)There were bad things too like every year but let's dwell on the good!! Christmas cookies

Today I started making Christmas cookies. Henry helped make some gingersnaps, and we made a pound cake that did not turn out so good. I also made gingerbread dough. I plan on rolling it out and making gingerbread cookies tomorrow after church. I also made a chocolate cake that I am going to use to make cake balls. I've never made them before but they sound delicious!

Henry loved helping me add ingredients and stir. He also liked sampling!! Here are a couple pics. There is also a video because Henry decided to be scared of my mixer today and he claimed it was because it was loud and would wake up Zoe. The video is him trying to explain why he doesn't want to help.
